I have had a passing acquaintaince with the practice of Qi Gong. I have attended some workshops and one time classes. I like it because it is a very gentle practice and because it involves moving the body more thank thinking with the mind. Recenly a lovely gentleman, Antonio Morrocco, as begun offering free outdoor morning Qi gong classes. His is a bit different than other Qi Gong classes I have attended. He calls it "medical Qi Gong" and seems to focus on the wellness aspects of the practice. He often begins our sessions with a "morning wake up" which involves gently tapping and moving the body in order to "wake up" all the systems. If you'd like to try it, click HERE to watch the video.

And here is a morning poem for you! Have a good day!

MORNING MATINS*

The sun moves up and down

the silky spider threads in the corner.

Toast with butter and hot coffee,

the communion offering this morning.

Birds fly from tree to tree

carrying the sun on their wings.

I read the words of dead poets

and am brought to life.

This time of morning silence

setting me to rights.

Stopping for a moment to bow

before the day’s tasks beckon.
